Role Description:
The roles of Project Director for prominent rail projects in RIDO represent senior leadership positions tasked with overseeing the strategic and operational facets of procuring and executing major rail infrastructure projects.
You will steer your project through the procurement or delivery phase, ensuring that the benefits and outcomes are realized in a safe, integrated manner, on time, and within budget, while adhering to the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance, as well as managing stakeholder expectations and requirements.You will be accountable for leading and managing the designated project resources, including consultants and contractors, across a diverse team that includes delivery, commercial, engineering, assurance, communications, engagement, and project support functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct the client-side planning, execution, and delivery of major rail initiatives, covering all stages from procurement through to commissioning, handover, and operational phases, contingent on project status.Exhibit strong leadership in the preparation, negotiation, and execution of significant rail contracts and agreements with contractors, suppliers, and partners, ensuring favourable terms for the organisation.Effectively manage major rail contracts and agreements with contractors, suppliers, and partners, focusing on driving results and accountability.Develop and implement comprehensive project plans that set clear goals, budgets, timelines, and resource requirements, aligned with the strategic aims of the organization.Ensure that all projects comply with necessary technical standards, legal regulations, safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and internal procedures throughout their execution.Implement detailed risk assessment and management strategies, considering technical, financial, legal, and operational risks associated with projects to mitigate risks and ensure contingency plans are developed.Deliver strategic oversight of the project's financial management, which involves budget planning, financial forecasting, and proactive engagement in acquiring necessary funding.Conduct regular project review meetings to track and report on progress against approved plans, detailing actual or potential project variations, risks, issues, mitigation strategies, and recommendations to senior management.Champions accountability and project success, making insightful and strategic decisions.Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to forge and maintain productive relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders.Proficiently manages and conveys complex commercial, contractual, technical, and delivery issues to senior management and key stakeholder groups.

Qualifications:
Significant expertise in executing rail projects within brownfield settings.Proven capabilities in project leadership and management.In-depth understanding of rail industry regulations, standards, and best practices.Extensive background in managing rail projects, showcasing a successful history of delivering intricate rail infrastructure initiatives.Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Commerce, or a related discipline; a master’s degree/MBA, relevant advanced certifications (such as PMP or other recognized project management qualifications), or Chartered Engineer status is highly valued.
